The
Laboratory obtained significant progress in regional monitoring
and forecasting technology of cotton army worm, the position
evolution of genetically modified cotton and maize to the insect
pests in the fields and the management of the resistance to the
GM crops, the exploration and utilization of insecticidal genes
with high efficiency, resistance of cotton and wheat to diseases
of importance and the creation of new resistant germplasm, and
the interaction between host plant and pathogen and the
molecular diagnosis of plant diseases. The scientists won one
first-prize of national science and technology progress, two
first-prize of provincial/ministry science and technology
progress, two second-prize of provincial/ministry science and
technology progress, three third-prize of provincial/ministry
science and technology progress and three other awards. Obtained
eight national patents and applied for one international patent
and 14 national patents. Five achievements were assessed and 4
new crop cultivars passed the examination and approval. 509
research articles were published in the past five years and 50
of them are of SCI source. The highest SCI impact factor was
10.15. Twenty books have been published in either Chinese or
English language. The scientists in the Laboratory proposed
suggestions to corresponding governmental ministries aiming at
the serious situation in Chinese agricultural bio-disaster and
pointed out the problems existed in control technology together
with the strategies settling the problems. The suggestions have
drawn the high attention of the State leadership and 10 of them
got written instructions or comment on the reports.
